Main Street Corporate Annual Meeting

Downtown Dade City Main Street held its Corporate Annual Meeting on Monday June 23rd at the Dade City Hampton Inn. The 2008/2009 Officers and Board Members were presented and the efforts of two members were recognized at this event.

The meeting was attended by nearly 30 members and was started off with a Year in Review Report and an overview of Main Street’s goals for the 2008/2009 membership year by President Sean Ashburn. President Ashburn presented goals that Main Street wishes to accomplish this year through their four committees: Promotions, Organization, Economic Restructuring and Design.

The Promotions Committee will be busy this year building upon Main Street’s signature events and some of our newer events including the Country Christmas Stroll, Fall and Spring Antique Faires, Wings ‘N’ Wheels and the Fall and Spring Community Rummage Sale. A recycling awareness program and expanded membership drive are some of the projects the Organization Committee will be working on this year. Look for spruced up flower pots and new benches and trash cans downtown thanks to the hard work of the Design Committee. Visit www.dadecitymainstreet.org and view the new Commercial Property listing page that the Economic Restructuring Committee is promoting this year. Individuals and Realtors can place free Commercial property for sale or lease listings.

Mayor Scott Black presented the 2008/2009 officers: Sean Ashburn of the St. Petersburg Times, president; Allison Todd of The Coffee Mug, vice president; Julie Cotton of Lynch, Gregg & Lynch, treasurer; Carole Hodges of Hodges Family Funeral Home, secretary; Nancy Johnson, past president; and Member-at-Large Lee Musselman.

Mayor Black also installed the following Main Street board members: Ed Blommel of Tampa Electric Company, Gayle Hogan of Grapevine Antiques, Anne Johnson, Stan Kaszuba of Saint Leo University, Karen Knowlton of Tampa Type/Print, Kim Newsome of Centerstate Bank and Karla Owens of City of Dade City. Lois Plymale-Gregg was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award. Lois donated her time and resources to help remodel the interior of the Main Street Office. Her knowledge was helpful in rearranging and organizing the office to create a better work environment. Allison Todd of the Coffee Mug was presented with the Main Street Supporter of the Year award. Allison has been instrumental in the success of all of our Downtown Events and Merchant Promotions.
