Main Street & Dade City CRA Spruce up downtown

Downtown Dade City Main Street Inc. and the Dade City Community Redevelopment Agency worked together to freshen up the flower pots in downtown Dade City. On June 24, 2008 Dade City Main Street presented a proposal to the CRA to replant all of the flower pots downtown. Main Street was willing to pay 25% if the CRA would fund 75% of the project. Main Street presented a quote from The Gardens Wholesale Nursery to plant Little Gem Magnolias in the 34 large pots and Knock Out Roses in the 29 small pots. The total cost of the project was $4,145 and included a generous donation from The Gardens Wholesale Nursery of 2 Little Gem Magnolia Trees and 2 Knock Out Roses. The project was approved unanimously by the CRA.

On July 1, 2008 The Gardens Wholesale Nursery started the process of removing all of the dead plant material from the pots and planting the new plants and trees. The work was completed within a few days, even with a few rain delays. The next time you are downtown take some time to stop and smell the Little Gem Magnolias which are currently blooming.
